Overview

 

FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

The Loss Prevention Market Manager leads in protecting company assets, reducing company losses, risks, and liabilities within their assigned markets. This position is responsible for the administration and management of loss prevention programs and achievement of financial and shortage goals. The Loss Prevention Market Manager supervises Loss Prevention Specialists.

 

 

INTERACTION:

  • Reports directly to the Loss Prevention Regional Manager
  • Supervises Loss Prevention Specialists
  • Frequent interaction with corporate management and support divisions
  • Extensive interaction and partnership with the store management and operations district management
  • Frequent interaction with the Operations DVP, Regional Director and Market Director
  • Frequent interaction with law enforcement and court systems
  • Builds trusting, collaborative relationships and alliances with others, inside and outside of the organization

 

 

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fully comprehends and manages all policies and procedures outlined in the Beall’s Loss Prevention Manual, Policy and Procedures Manual, Code of Ethics, Employee Handbook and all other training or communication distributed by the company
  • Maintains an environment that promotes and reinforces the highest standards of integrity and ethics
  • Communicates observations and recommendations to operational management in effort to minimize shrink liabilities
  • Identifies and plans for improvement in performance using key business metrics
  • Adapts to competing demands and shifting priorities
  • Manages all of the assigned market controllable loss prevention expenses
  • Looks beyond symptoms to determine the root causes of problems, and identify and implement applicable solutions
  • Integrates knowledge and expertise in making fact-based recommendations and decisions
  • Hires, trains, manages, and evaluates performance of the market Loss Prevention Specialists
  • Sets a clear expectation of performance measures, goals, and helps others do the same
  • Plans for and ensures others have the information, resources and implementation time, needed to accomplish business initiatives
  • Monitors progress of direct reports and redirects efforts when goals change or results are not met and ensures others are held accountable for achieving expected results
  • Develops talent plans for own market targeted at increasing effectiveness, building diversity, and enhancing bench strength while maintaining approved staffing levels, prioritizes, schedules, and balances time of direct reports to accomplish goals
  • Identifies and reports violations of company policy, local, state or federal law to the Regional Loss Prevention Manager, Loss Prevention Regional Director, Loss Prevention Divisional Vice President and/or Human Resources
  • Monitors for indicators of theft, investigates, documents, and reports findings and ensures resolutions per policy and procedure

 

  • Independently manages investigations and communicate findings per procedure
  • Conducts general loss, participatory, and selective interviews per Beall’s Policy
  • Responsible for managing, prioritizing, and planning for both internal and external investigations through closure
  • Manages the execution of corporate-directed shrink-reduction programs
  • Extensive use of video recording equipment and manage the installation of covert equipment as needed
  • Ensures the appropriate review of investigative tools such as video surveillance along with store media while providing documentation of findings
  • Conducts or participates in store meetings and/or loss prevention staff meetings
  • Partners with Operational District and Group Managers to assess the loss prevention needs of assigned stores
  • Partners with Operational District and Group Managers to develop a team approach to all Loss Prevention training, shrink-reduction programs, policy issues, shoplifting detection and investigations

 

  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of all loss prevention documentation as per Beall’s policy
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality
  • Accountable for all assigned company property

 

  • Situational and short-notice response may be required for emergencies
  • Performs special assignments and job duties as requested by the Loss Prevention Regional Manager and Corporate Loss Prevention

Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must have full hand and arm usage to operate equipment, such as CCTV cameras, computers and writing instruments
  • Must have full body rotation and movement
  • Must have ability to climb ladders
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds with little or no difficulty
  • Must have adequate vision to depict accurate details
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to drive between stores in region

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a college degree in related field and/or equivalent management experience
  • Wicklander and Zulawski basic certification preferred
  • Understanding of basic retail mathematics
  • Understand criminal and civil law as it applies to the retail environment
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must possess excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate sound decision making and be able to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Must possess fluent computer skills and software knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays with extensive travel to include frequent overnight stays
  • Fluent in English
  • Must have a minimum of five years of loss prevention multi store management experience
  • Must be able to maintain a minimum of 45 hours per work week schedule
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of your residence
  • Must successfully complete a background screening that can include verification of employment, personal references, education, certifications, motor vehicle records and driving record and drug screen
